The Team

A brief summary of some key family members who help make Cinnamon Grove your home;

Lakmali – one of the team leaders, with some excellent experience behind her in a hospital setting has helped take the care family from strength to strength.

Kumara – one of the Grove’s most experienced members, with a long and colourful history as a nursing lecturer and staff nurse,  he brings with him a wealth of knowledge and maturity, a great role model for the juniors.

Indu– the once naive and nervous new recruit has blossomed into a very capable and knowledgeable caregiver, testament to Cinnamon Grove’s fertile training grounds.

Champa – with a natural talent for caregiving, a new member of the family and taking to the Grove like a duck to water with her natural flair for a career in healthcare bolstered by the Grove’s training programmes.

Nuwan – the gentle giant but with a tender manner which is shown by the high quality of care he provides to all the residents.

Pushpa – the green fingered mother of the flock, you can usually find her in the gardens whenever she has some spare time. There’s nothing she likes more than tending to the organic fruits and vegetables being cultivated at the Grove.

Geethika – an international jet setter having lived and worked in the UK, her experience and exposure fits perfectly with the Grove’s UK systems and processes. Her easy going manner, good sense of humor and cheerful smile has enables her to smooth out most situations.

Nimali – quiet but loud, naturally shy but vociferous, a true contradiction in terms, but one of the family’s dearest team members. She was new to the profession, but showing great potential with the aid of the Grove’s enhanced training regime.

Mallika – one of Grove’s most caring and longstanding team members and always greets you with a smile, she is a ayurvedic specialist and knows how to massage out those aches and pains to get you back on track in no time.

Harsha – the kitchen is her domain and woe betide anyone who tries to interfere with her culinary creations or enters the kitchen during meal preparation. Her specialty was Sri Lankan fine dining but is now honing her skills by fusing a plethora of dishes from East to West to suit all palates.

Romanis & Jayasinghe – gardeners, planters, maintainers, repairers, the list goes on. There’s not a lot they won’t tackle, a real dream team and they get on like peas in a pod.

Gunapala – handy man extraordinaire, a qualified electrician spanning several decades experience with the electricity board, he’s come out of retirement to ensure the Grove’s knobs, buttons and widgets are in tip top working order.

Cinnamon Care Training Highlights

  • Only training center in Sri Lanka capable of providing both theoretical and hands-on practical work experience in our UK standard residential home;
  • Exposure to specialist UK care systems implemented at the facility to cater for the specific needs of clients suffering from dementia;
  • Exposure to dealing with and administering care to clients with a broad range of care needs and from globally diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds;
  • Director of care is a sign off mentor for one of the UK’s leading universities;
  • Training will cover key aspects of British legislation under the Care Quality Commission (CQC);
  • Inclusion of a supplementary and bespoke training unit on ‘end of life pathway’ palliative care and the UK’s ‘Mental Capacity Act’ which focuses on the individuals decision making ability;
  • Partnerships with international care and residential homes with the ability to assist in gaining employment in the UK, US and the Middle East.
